About CancyJoy

Useful things, chosen carefully.

Our mission

For the small jobs that take longer than they should.

Most homes have a list of small jobs that never quite get done. A box that needs flattening, a hem that wanders off, a corner nobody can reach. None of it is hard. It's just fiddly, and the right tool makes it less so.

That's why CancyJoy exists. We look for small, practical things that make those jobs easier, and we try to say plainly what each one is good for.

We look at a lot of things that don't make the cut. Some feel flimsy, and some just don't do what the photo promised. What's left is a short list we'd be happy to keep at home.

And since most of it lives in a drawer or on a shelf, we also try to pick things that look fine when you leave them out.

What we care about

A few things we won't bend on.

It has to get used

If a tool ends up at the back of a drawer after one go, it wasn't worth making. We look for things people reach for again.

Say what it does

We write about what a thing can do and where it stops. No big numbers we haven't checked.

Less, but better

We'd rather sell you one thing that works than five that don't. The range stays small on purpose.

What we look for

A short list, kept short.

Before anything makes the list, it has to get past a few questions. Does it make a real job easier? Is it simple to use, and simple to put away? And would we be happy to leave it out in our own home?

If the answer to any of those is no, it doesn't go on the site.

How we work

Chosen carefully, explained honestly.

We keep the range small, so we can say something useful about each thing instead of repeating the same line about all of it.

We'd rather answer a message than hide behind a form. If something isn't right, write to us. A real person reads it.

Marilyn McDonald

Nobody celebrates the box that finally got flattened or the line that finally came out straight. We like those quiet wins, and we look for the tools that make them happen in a few minutes.

Jerry Banks

Before anything goes on the site, we read the one-star reviews first. They tell us what goes wrong, and we'd rather know that before you do.

Pamela Bailey

A good tool should be easy to forget. You finish the job, put it back, and don't think about it again until the next one.
